Airships

Then there are the radio controlled airships. The video will talk for itself. Matt Tub – director in chief of Airship Solutions makes sure that each system works to our clients requirements and to this end has a team of highly trained and accredited operators.

Blimps

Image
A lot of people don’t know that we also work with airships and blimps so I decided to show you what it all looks like. The great advantage of the blimps – which are tethered at height, is that they can be seen from miles around.

Flexibility

Image
A new client asked us if we could produce a smaller version of a Raver design their client loved the look of. We agreed to this and set about finding the correct mix of fan power to deliver the end result of kinetic mascot echoing their logo, designed for a film shoot. It’s one of those challenges we thrive on. Now they love it so much they have challenged us to design and produce 100 very micro versions to sit on a desk top. Watch this space!

Talking about Bear Hugs…….

Image
It was time to make another bear Raver for The Importers, a really trusting client who has been with us for years and has stuck with their trusted design. Susan really loves her pink bear, as do the kids that pop in to the store with mum and dad. The Importers is a clearance centre that stocks beautiful quality teak and mahogany furniture. Susan tells me that they are having a stock clearance for Xmas………their address is 357 City Rd, Southbank.

Flags and signs

Image
And then there is our dear client Bennetts Petroleum in Tasmania. They are such a great bunch and for them nothing is too much trouble. So when they asked for a portable set of flags to match their on-site set, we supplied them this great portable arrangement that packs away into a bag.

Santa Dancing inflatables

Now the performance can begin. Wendy was so busy in June making Santa Raver skins, but it wasn’t until this month that they have had their chance to perform and bring the clients through retailers’ doors

Care Bears christmas party parade inflatables

Image
It’s that time of year again when the clouds line the streets of Melbourne for the Myer Xmas parade. Giant Inflatables was “floating in the clouds” with the Care Bears float for which we produced the clouds and the rainbow. Scotty really enjoyed the jovial spirit at the warehouse where all the floats were produced under the experienced baton of the “Ready, Set, Go” production team (who put the entire gig together for the client – Myer department stores - in a record breaking few weeks). The orchestration of such an event was a site to behold.

Monstie has so many personas!..... now he’s working at Living Jungle in Sunshine (a pet shop with a focus on fish and reptiles), making his memorable mark. It’s great to have a character Raver that can assume a specific role.

Last time we met Wendy in this story, she was making Santa ravers. Well look where that got her – she’s a happy, proud Nana now. The team at Giant Inflatables welcomes new Alex and congrats to Amy, Wendy’s daughter.

Got to get it up – Giant Inflatables does it again!

It’s not a Viagra field test, but it is an attempt to get it up! This mighty cone is 30m high . That’s a 100 ft high target! It’s to be used for a reality TV program - - Watch this spot for more details. According to our information this is a record for the highest inflatable cone ever made in Australia. Another proud milestone for Giant Inflatables.

Are you “Yok”-ing

Image
Yok – a Melbourne based visual artist, had these images created for his forthcoming exhibition. His web site http://www.theyouk.com/ tells more about these wondrous creations which can be viewed at the ‘don’t come’ gallery, Melbourne, until 2nd Dec 07.

“Looks GREAT David. Thank you SOOOOOOOO much”

What more can one ask for ……… appreciation from a client at the completion of a stressful job, completed in under 3 weeks. The sets for children’s stage show – ‘Barney’s Lets Imagine’ comprised of grass patches, and a tree with a baby bird in an egg. These sets had to inflate on demand and grow on stage. The elephant was an inflatable costume manned with a 2 person team. These kinds of 3D inflatables are almost impossible to pre-design completely. We prototype them first from a basic design then the art and crafting on the floor begins. It’s hands on demanding work with ideas and trials, testing and tweaking, until the magic spark ignites and the solution soon follows.

Composite character arch

Image
Often the motivation for a client choosing Giant inflatables is because they feel trust in our ability to understand their needs. Our design team rise to the challenge of realizing 2 dimensional images and transforming them into 3D forms. This Hybrid arch had to communicate - like a conversation - with the guests arriving for a convention at the renowned Hogs Breath café. Our brief was complimented with the toy hog and the challenge was on.

A Common question we are asked when requested to produce an inflatable replica product is :- ...... " how high it should be made ". In order to answer that we need to know a bit of background to the products’ use. 2 questions are the most informative to us in enabling us to give correct advice. 1] Will it be used indoors or out ? 2] Will it be used on the ground or on a rooftop ? In general , inflatable replica products used indoors are seldom higher than 4m but on average are made 3m high. If they are to be used on a rooftop they need to be big enough not to be lost in the scale of a building and therefore are usually 7m high but can be made to 6m. Outdoors on the ground – these are usually at events of some kind, either a field day, concert, race meeting or other outdoor event where a brand building excersise is the marketing requirement. The inflatables for this type of event are made 4m- 5m. This example of the Inflatable Hype can shows a 7m can being very effective (at t

What are Adflatables?

FINA World championships - Melbourne 2007

Image
Giant Inflatables was honored to be chosen as the supplier of inflatable product for this prestigious event. The inflatable back screens which floated on the water at the water polo pool were a real challenge, with 20m of digitally printed signage trying to blow away in the wind.Luke Osland quipped (when we had sorted the problem out) “that’s why we use local suppliers”. It didn’t end there – for the event organizers had forgotten that the screen was higher than the winners’ podium and the cameras just couldn’t see though the huge inflatable wedge. So again another midnight service call took place to insert 6 deflation Zips into the unit so it could be deflated rapidly for the winners’ awards and re-inflate for the next round. Giant Inflatables also supplied the set of ‘Marker buoys’ for the open water swimming events for which the ‘branded inflatable arch’ was used as the start and finish line.

Inflatable horse

Image
Spring carnival is just around the corner and “It’s bigger than you think” This is the slogan that generated this design that was used to launch the “spring racing carnival” in Melbourne . The show was ‘opened’ when this Giant Inflatable horse burst out from under a tarpaulin and inflated in 18 seconds.

Inflatable “Stage sets”

Image
The giant inflatables team excels when it comes to working in real time with a design for an inflatable stage set. It can never be totally pre-designed utilizing our state of the art 3D design software. For the inflatable stage set to have “magic” it gets lovingly grown by hand from the basic concept. It’s where science gives way to art.

Inflatable Wall at Federation Square

Image
With the increasing awareness and urgency for becoming energy efficient, the administration at Federation Square took the next step in bringing the heating costs of the atrium under control by commissioning Giant Inflatables to add an additional section to the inflatable wall that we build 3 years ago. The design brief was again to reflect the geometry of the building and to snuggly fit the removable inflatable wall to the existing structure to reduce the cold air draft that winter brings with it. It was a pleasure working with Peter Brace, of Federation Square Management who went out of his way to make sure that everything was ready for our team to perform the inflatable wall installation in a comfortable and hassle-free environment. Thanks.
